The Covenant Car Company, Incorporated (TCCCI) is the current distributor of the Morris Garages brand in the Philippines. Popularly known as MG, the brand entered the country officially in October 2018. While the brand was once British, the rights to manufacture vehicles belonged to SAIC Motor as of 2007. The company is able to boast 12 dealerships nationwide with more on the way even as a new entrant into the market.
MG Philippines has a lineup that consists of four models ranging from subcompact to compact sizes. The MG 5 is the smallest in the lineup, followed by the turbocharged MG6 fastback. The ZS is the subcompact crossover, while the RX5 is the brand’s compact crossover SUV offering that comes with a turbo.
MG Philippines’ official entry into the Philippines sparked the discontinuation of the previous MG cars like the MG 3, MG 350, and MG GT.
In 2019, MG announced its entry into the subcompact sedan market in the Philippines with the MG 5. The sedan aims to challenge industry leaders in the category, by offering features not commonly found on cars of this class.
MG Philippines uses words such as Core, Style, Alpha, and Trophy for its variant levels. The Core variant is the base model, while the Style serves as the mid-tier for all MG cars. All models have the Alpha as the top-spec variant, except for the MG 6 which has Trophy as its range-topper.
