New Sedans For Sale in the Philippines
The sedan, or saloon in European countries, has been a default family car in the Philippines ever since time immemorial. The inclusion of rear doors and a separate trunk makes sedans ideal for those who want to drive a car that has space without sacrificing great driving dynamics.
Differentiating them from hatchbacks, sedans have a three-box shape, which separates the engine bay, the cabin, and the trunk. Some modern sedans also come with a sloping roof that connects seamlessly to the trunk, employing a fastback look but ultimately, the separate trunk still classifies them as a sedan.
Sedans also come with a monocoque or unibody construction, which means that the vehicle’s body is built around the chassis or platform. With this and the inherent use of independent suspension, sedans have the most comfortable ride among the vehicle types. This fact makes sedans perfect for short and long-distance people-ferrying duties.
Popular sedans in the Philippines include the small subcompact sedans like the Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Mirage G4, Nissan Almera, Mazda2, Honda City, and Hyundai Accent. Compact sedans are Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic, and Mazda3, while popular midsize sedans include the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Chevrolet Malibu, and Mazda6.
In 2019, notable sedan launches include that of the Kia Soluto and the Hyundai Reina – both share the same platform but are direct rivals in the Philippines. MG also added the MG 5 to its lineup this year, while Honda gave the Civic a refresh at the start of 2019. Kia also refreshed the Forte and gave it a turbocharged engine. Among the biggest launches was the Mazda3, Honda Accord, and Toyota Corolla Altis, getting new-generation models this year.
Expect to see an all-new Honda City in 2020, along with the new Nissan Almera and Sylphy which both got next-generation models overseas.
